This isn't an official update, more of a message on what my outlook for the future of Arkonviox.com and Arkonviox.net will be. Basically I will be converting the website into a sorta giant blog, each week (or every once in a less while). I will introduce a new article with new and old content and as articles build up I will add them to the explore section.
Since the Ecco community isn't what it used to be I figured I'd take the new direction and downgrade it. Since it will be alot more simplistic it will be alot easier to update. For an example be sure to check out my Stock Market Website. I feel by going this route I can focus on content more then programming and interactiveness. This will also help the site get picked up by a search engine.
At this point I'm not sure if I will keep the chatroom and the dedicated server Arkonviox.net uses. It costs money to run that service so I need a very cheap alternative. Also I am a bit concerned for the forum since I am not sure if it will cause problems with the new host. I will back it up later this week and start packaging it and moving it over.
As for Arkonviox.net and Enigma 4 I will probably back it up and eventualy scrap it as I get more of the content incorporated into the new blog style website. A good example of what the new site will be like is how Caverns of Hope currently operates. They find content and new information and add it to there front page. I figured what if I had a whole website dedicated to this but navigatable to old articles. I want people to actually read and look through these sections not just blow them off. So by incorporating it as news in an article and updating when I get free time to do so, you will get a little bit of different flavors rather then an article about the same old crap.
Its funny but this whole idea came from a discussion with Epicenter of DarkSea and I. I told him if I made a blog and added one small article a week about lets say the uninteresting Ecco the Dolphin Alpha, I'd have a 50 page or more article by the time he was ready to post his (Which was more then a year ago by now). Then I thought to myself what if I had a whole website that operated through gaining updates from the forum and what not and proving to people we can still keep the community interesting. So here is the begining of my newest project!
