Ecco the Dolphin the Motion Picture
08-29-2010 by Johnny L. de Alba

Imagine Ecco the Dolphin if it were a motion picture, would the story be exactly like the games? and would it be possible to follow a story about a dolphin from start to finished? A recent YouTube video has re-imagined Ecco as a biological experiment created by human scientists, who work together in an under water research lab. The dolphin, code-named Ecco, is smarter, faster and stronger than the average dolphin.

It isn't until the presence of alien creatures known as the Foe does Ecco realize his purpose. The goal of the Foe is to plunge Earth beneath the sea by shifting the Earth's axis. When the Foe succeeds in transforming Earth into aquatic ruins, Ecco begins his search for a machine, created by man kind, that is capable of time travel. Piecing together the puzzles left behind by the Atlanteans, Ecco searches for the time machine as he fights off aquatic alien threats that have plagued the Earth.

The mock trailer was created using clips from different film sources to create the illusion that it is an actual movie about Ecco the Dolphin. The music used for the trailer are clips sampled from Ecco the Dolphin for Sega CD and "Love and Loss" by Two Steps From Hell. What makes this trailer interesting is it takes elements from the entire Ecco series to create something new and unique.

As you watch the trailer you'll notice a man (played by Bill Paxton), who almost follows Ecco through his quest, fighting aliens and avoiding the dangers of the machine ruins. In this trailer Ecco retains the role of being a hero who does not speak, an idea that pays tribute to Ecco's creator Ed Annunziata. The fake movie even has a poster to promote the idea of an Ecco the Dolphin motion picture. It's possible someone from a major film studio may watch this video and pick it up for an anctual Ecco the Dolphin movie, if thats the case I just hope they can get Bill Praxton.
