I never gave Sebastion of Caverns of Hope enough credit when he was active in the Ecco community. Sure he had a lot of praise from others in those days but being a webmaster of an Ecco website I chose to disregard his work rather than praise it.
Well I've changed my mind and would like to show off a special game featured on the Caverns of Hope website called Ecco the Orca. Being a talented programmer and hacker Sebastion was the first in the Ecco community to revolutionize Ecco hacking. He created a viewer that allows the user to peer into the Ecco games and observe all the objects within. He attempted the first Ecco level editor for Ecco PC although not completed I had the chance to see screen shots of it that revealed a lot of developmental secrets that lead to Ecco's creation.
Ecco the Orca is a hack created by Sebastion where all the Dolphin's and references to Dolphins have all been changed to Orca's. Just to give away one fun fact about Ecco the Orca - all the Orca's have been replaced with the lost and hidden turtle sprite. Although the turtle's palettes are off it's a wonder in the game hidden and forgotten by the programmers.

Ecco the Orca is a pretty fun game using the Orca sprite from Ecco Jr. It was more likely time consuming replacing all the Dolphin animations and adding the few tweaks to the palettes so the levels and certain objects display correctly. The game has a different level select code that the great hacker of DARK SEA Tails discovered for us. If you would like to know the level select code, it is hidden somewhere on this page.
I had a lot of fun playing this game and noticing it's secrets and flaws that might actually be features. For more information about it and to download it, look for the source section of this article and the link to the Caverns of Hope article. Read their article and if you like the game leave a compliment on the Caverns of Hope guestbook for Sebastion, he'd appreciate it and if were lucky he might even do an Ecco the Orca 2: The Tides of Time.
