A Stone in Time is a video game project that my brother and I have been working on for the last couple of years. The idea came from a dream and started off as an Ecco the Dolphin fan game project.
Because the ideas from the story were original, we decided to make it into an Ecco the Dolphin inspired game project. The storyline has been altered many times as I trie to fine tune it, but basic elements remain the same.
Creatures created by an ancient race known as the Magians are about to finish their war against Atlantis by taking it into the future. The male of this species seeks out the female who was hidden somewhere in the present. If the female were to spawn children, their kind would devour the planet of all its resources.
A race of subterranean Dolphins called the Thirians, believe they are the only ones who can stop the nemesis before they take root upon the planet. They are the descendants of a group of Atlantean survivors known as the Levians, they protect one of five time machines hidden in the ancient runes.
Long ago the Thirian's ancestors lived in an advanced civilization rich with knowledge and technology. They lived in a land called Poised known in legend as Atlantis. Atlantis was at war with a much older ancient civilization called Mu. The inhabitants of Mu were forbidden from using technology, they used science-magic and mastered the art of bio-technology.
Those who lived in Mu were called the Magians, they were responsible for banishing the Levians to Poised. The Magians believe the building of artificial technology will eventually lead to the undoing of existence, this is what lead to the war between the two factions.
The Magians enslaved a race of creatures called the Moirai whose biology is the basis of their technology. The Moirai were responsible for the destruction of Atlantis.
The Thirian descendants were overwhelmed with the Moirai threat and would not have survived if it weren't for an ancient Dolphin immortal known as Arkonviox. The Thirians believe that Arkonviox is the savior of the future, that one day he will return to defend them.
But the Thirians greatest threat isn't the Moirai, its a clan of Orcas from the future known as the Seven Dark Whales. The Seven Dark Whales come from a future that was destroyed by the Moirai. Their future is the product of a paradox created when they will travel into the past to alter time. To counter their existence the Moirai sent one of their own back in time, a creature who calls itself Vernineus.
Vernineus mission is to gather all the time machines and return them to the future where time travel technology originated. Each of the time machines act as a gateway to a specific time period, but one time machine can open a portal to any time period. This special time machine was not created by the Magians or Levians, it was created by the Lemurians whose civilization does not yet exist.
A Thirian named Crestoe will take it upon himself to find Arkonviox to fufill the ancient prophecy. Along the way he meets a young Orca named Clondike whose life is endanger as he is stalked by the Seven Dark Whales. The prophecy has a price when Arkonviox refuses to help and the Seven Dark Whales kill the Thirians in retribution.
With nothing left but to protect Clondike and extract vengeance on the Dark Whales, Crestoe reluctantly becomes the savior of the future. Without Arkonviox's help there is no hope in altering fate.
